Thomson Family Farm raises our chickens on pasture. That means the birds are kept in a mobile coop. Every day the chickens are moved onto a new part of the pasture where they have access to grass, bugs and worms. This mobile coop also allows for the chickens to be moved off of their manure. This rotational grazing gives the chickens a more natural diet and lifestyle.
There's nothing like fresh produce! Please visit us at local farmers markets or the farm stand to see what’s in season!
Thomson Family Farm also raises our pigs on pasture, and they live a natural life similar life to our chickens. All of our pigs are Berkshire’s and they are kept outside in a mix of pastures and silvopastures. They are rotated through these pastures which allows them to forage and root leading to a more natural diet and lifestyle.
Thomson Family Farm raises our chickens, guinea hens, ducks and geese on pasture as well. That means our birds are kept in a mobile coop at night (for their own protection) and free ranged during the day. They have access to grass, bugs and worms. Being able to forage for their food the chickens are not in one spot with their manure. This style of grazing gives the chickens a more natural diet and lifestyle. Their yolks are darker and are packed full of nutrients!
We have added 3 Scottish Highlander Heifers to the farm. Our plan is to have them bred, if they aren't already, and raise the babies for the future of Thomson Family Farm's beef!
